Obituary for
Peter Joseph Rabasco Sr.
Peter Joseph Rabasco, Sr., a resident of Dutchess County for more than 40 years and formerly of Westchester County, died at home on Sunday, September 25, 2016. He was 77.
Son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Lupico) Rabasco, he was born in the Bronx on July 27, 1939. In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for six years. He was honorably discharged from service in 1963.
A skilled mechanic, Peter had a longstanding career with General Motors. He retired in 1989.
He loved riding his motorcycle and belonged to the Lost Wheels Motorcycle Club. He was also a ham radio operator under the handle of L.D.O. Services. As a result of his time in the Navy, he cherished spending time on the water and was an avid boater.
On February 13, 1994, he married Kathleen M. McClurg in New Windsor. Kathleen survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Peter is also survived by his children, Louise Rabasco of Newburgh, Peter J. Rabasco, Jr. (Kristen) of New Paltz, Paul Rabasco of New Paltz, Joseph Rabasco of Poughkeepsie, Kellyann Underwood (Edwin) of Wappingers Falls, and Heather Brewer (Stephen) of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Victoria, Olivia, Stella, Joseph, Haidyn, Tyler, Kaileb, Vincent, Heru, and Logan; his former wife, Lucyann Rabasco of New Paltz; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, where the U.S. Navy will conduct Military Honors.
