Obituary for Lydia Maria Brockhausen (Medina)

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Lydia Maria Brockhausen, of Port St. Lucie, FL and formerly Fishkill and Beacon, died on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Hay-Madeira House Hospice Facility in Stuart, FL after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 47.
She was born in Peekskill on June 17, 1968. Lydia dedicated her career to health care, and up until her illness she was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Mount Kisco Medical Group in Fishkill. She was an active outdoorswoman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time near the water. More than anything else, she cherished spending time with her family.
She was a former member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
On August 10th 2003, she married John A. Brockhausen, III at Cortland Manor New York.
John survives at home in Port St. Lucie.
Lydia is also survived by her children, Emilio I. Acosta II of Hopewell Junction, and Tasha M. and Alexa L. Brockhausen of Port St. Lucie; her mother, Olivia Carpenter Medina of Fishkill; her father, David C. Medina of Hopewell Junction; her sister, Demetria Schmidt & her husband Christopher of Beacon; her brother, David Medina of Hopewell Junction; her sister, Alexandria Medina of Fishkill; her parents-in-law, Maryellen & John Brockhausen, Jr. of Peekskill; her sisters-in-law, Christy Brockhausen of Yonkers and Jennifer Castro of North Bergen, NJ; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill.
A college fund has been established to benefit Lydia’s children. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to Christy Brockhausen, c/o McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
