Obituary for
Patricia A Chamberlain
Patricia Ann Chamberlain, aged 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016. Patricia was born April 17, 1927, in Bronxville, New York to Emma Roberts and Edward Glokner.
Patricia graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers and attended New Rochelle College in New York. She later earned a Masters degree in Education at Fordham University. She went on to teach kindergarten in the Yorktown School District for over 20 years. Patricia loved to teach and because of her free-spirited nature, she got along with children famously.
In 1948, she married the love of her life, Arthur Chamberlain. They resided in Yorktown Heights, NY, while raising their 4 children before building a house in Sherman, CT, overlooking Candlewood Lake. Patricia loved to swim and spend long days on their boat, eating cheese and crackers, surrounded by loved ones. She had a passion for entertaining, especially during the holidays. Her stunning 10-foot Christmas tree was legendary and you could always count on receiving one of her beautifully hand-written notes in your mailbox.
She celebrated life and had a knack for making everyone she encountered feel special. Patricia was a dear friend to many and her dedication to those she loved solidified her as the family matriarch, and our most treasured female role model. Her generosity and kind heart lives on in all of us.
Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Arthur Chamberlain in 2004; her sister, Jean, in 2010; and her daughter-in-law, Jan Chamberlain, earlier this year.
She is survived by her 4 children, Kathryn Subrize of Surfside Beach, SC, Barbara Murray of Woolwine, VA, Arthur (Kip) Chamberlain Jr. of Wardsboro, VT and Joanne Smith of Wappingers Falls, NY; her 9 grandchildren and her 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial will be held on Wednesday morning from 11am til noon at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. Friends and relatives are invited. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, for a private service where she will rest alongside her husband.
