Obituary for Kenneth H. Quandt

Kenneth H.  Quandt
Kenneth H. Quandt, a Wappingers Falls resident, passed away at home on April 13, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born on January 25, 1937 in the Bronx, the son of the late Harriet and Herman Quandt.
Ken Quandt served in the National Guard and United States Army. He owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store in Salem, Ohio. Ken attended Westchester Community College and Pace University. Kenneth was employed as a computer programmer by Readers Digest in Pleasantville. He was a retired employee of the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union. He received his Wine Diploma and was also a Home Firearm Safety Instructor.
Kenneth was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired Deputy Sheriff for Dutchess County. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Dutchess County Lodge #333; member of the American Legion Post #0001; and an honorary member of the Westchester County Police Revolver and Rifle League.
Ken enjoyed working on his computer, bowling, hunting, watching movies, listening to music and spending time at Joe’s Bagel Shoppe with his friends. But above all, he enjoyed being with his wife.
Kenneth is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Joanne; his daughters, Debra Ann Zanin, Ann Marie Harris and Stephanie Jo Ose; his sons-in-law, Ian, Bernard and Gus; His godmother, Josephine Kreider; his treasured grandchildren and their spouses; Devon & Jr., Christopher & Dianne, Michael, Stephanie Jean, Ryan & Ashley, Deidre, Johanna, Reese, Dylan and Brandi; his adored great-grandchildren, Briana, William, Finnegan, Daniel and Sadie. He is also survived by many nieces,nephews and many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Wednesday, April 18 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 19 at St. Mary’s Church , 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow at the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Foundation, Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
