Obituary for John Alexander Burnett

John Alexander  Burnett
John Alexander Burnett, 71, a resident of Poughquag since 1974 and previously of Port Chester, died on April 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Port Chester on March 26, 1946, John was the son of Samuel and Ruth (Carey) Burnett. On October 9, 1971 at St. Peter’s Church in Port Chester, John married Elonna “Lonnie” Arezki, who survives at home.

John was the Vice President, Claims Manager for Munich American Reinsurance Company in New York City until his retirement in 1997. He had also worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company from 1969 – 1978. He was the owner and operator of John Burnett Associates which he opened in 1997. He was a member of the Beekman Country Club Golf League- American Eagles. He loved golf, horse racing and crossword puzzles.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Samantha Meunier and her husband Jason of Concord TWP, OH, and Jamie Bjorkman and her husband Eric of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Michael and Alina Meunier, Benjamin and Olivia Bjorkman; his sisters, Mary Jane Bucci, and Patricia Norden and her husband Alan; his loving sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George “Chet” Burnett.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
