Obituary for Violet M. Cozadd (Britvec)

Violet M. Cozadd (Britvec)
Violet M. Cozadd, 93, a resident of Scotia, NY and formerly of Poughquag, NY for 32 years, died peacefully on September 20, 2017 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Schenectady, NY. She was originally from Battle Creek, MI.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Violet was renowned for her many gourmet meals, as well as treating her family and friends with frequent stops for lunch. She made dozens of beautiful hand stitched quilts, which remain with family members as part of her legacy. She loved her grandkids’ baseball games as much as she enjoyed her beloved New York Yankees. Vi was an avid bowler, and held several local women’s bowling trophies. She was always up for a game of Bingo, Yahtzee, Uno or any game on the table. Vi had a kind, magnetic personality that anyone couldn’t help but love.

Born on June 17, 1924 in Battle Creek, MI, Violet was the daughter of Ivan and Mary (Harvacan) Britvec. She was a former long-time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in LaGrangeville and the Glenville, NY Seniors Center. She was also a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union in Pittsburgh, PA.

On July 2, 1960 in Comstock, MI, Violet married Joseph H. Cozadd who predeceased her on November 1, 2010. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Raymond and Penny Belles of Dowling, MI; Angela and Michael Mahoney of Scotia, NY; Joseph and Penny Cozadd, Jr. of Selma, NC; her grandchildren: Lisa and Steve Wilbur of Battle Creek, MI; Raymond and Melissa Belles Jr. of Ozark, MO; Gordon Wildrick III of Lyndhurst, NJ; and Andrew Wildrick of Scotia, NY; and 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 25 from 10am – 12:00pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY followed by a service at noon. Interment will be in Beekman Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 310 South Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY 12208. https://donate.givetocommunityhospice.org/. Please visit Violet’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
