Obituary for Herman Elihu London

Herman Elihu London
Millington, NJ - Herman E. London, 90, a former resident of Dutchess County, passed away on March 28, 2018.

Herman was born in the Bronx on January 4, 1928 to Frieda and Sam London. He attended Teacher's College in their Doctorate Program. Herman served in the US Army as a radar instructor during the Korean War.

Herman worked as an Audio-Visual Director in Hunter College, Jersey City State College, Pleasantville Cottage School and B.O.C.E.S. in Northern Westchester.

On September 8, 1968, he married Helen Brown and they remained married until 1985. They had two daughters, Jardena DiGiorgio and Kendra London. Jardena and Matt DiGiorgio have three children Max, Mason and Greta. Jardena, Matt, Mason, Greta and Max faithfully visited Herman in the nursing homes he was in.

Herman was active in many organizations. He once was President of Fishkill Historical Society, and spoke many times at the Sherlock Holmes Society. He performed in many local theater groups. He was in "Harvey", "Death of a Salesman", "A Wrinkle in Time", "Bells are Ringing" and "I Never Sang for My Father". He played the judge at the end of "Annie" and everybody thought he was a real judge!

If you wanted to know anything about anything, you asked Herman. He was a true Renaissance Man and maintained files about anything you might have been interested in.

The funeral service will be on Friday at 10am at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow in King David Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anti-Defamation League (https://www.adl.org/ways-to-give/give-to-adl-in-honor-or-in-memory). Please visit Herman’s Book of Memories at www.mchoulfuneralhome.com.
