Evelynn was a long-time friend & co-member of Hyde Park Chapter #4561 AARP. Evelynn was also the Founder of our Birthday Club. We shared many a story & many more laughs during our time together when on Bus Trips with our AARP group. It was never the same without Evelynn. She was truly missed during her stay at Lutheran Care.

My mother was a very strong woman. We had a special connection because her birthday was on April 16 and mine was on the 18th. We frequently celebrated our birthdays together. She taught me to be strong and independent. On rainy days she would have the Young neighborhood kids come in our basement at a picnic table and do artwork projects when it was raining. At one point in my life, she defended me in school. A male teacher walked in the girls bathroom and rounded everybody up and said we were smoking. When I told my mother she was very upset that a male would walk into a girls bathroom. She went with me down to the principals office and demand to be heard. She had a fiery feisty spirit at times . Her actions caused my suspension to be lifted! LOL she also was so very creative and had great parties for us girls. I remember a Halloween party where she did really creative things to make it a fun atmosphere and a little scary! She taught me to stand up for my beliefs, to be myself, to be true to myself and always give my all and everything that I do.Mama I will miss you. I know you will always be by my side.
